My Take on the Cavs

The Cavs have a tough stretch this week with games against Boston and the game we have all been waiting for thursday against Lebron James and the Miami Heat. Fans attending the game please be on your best behavior if you wanna boo Lebron go head but dont do nothing stupid to embarass our city in front of the national audience thursday night. In observing the Cavs it seems to me if JJ Hickson and Mo Williams play well the Cavs are very competitive but if they dont the Cavs usually are in trouble. Im also impressed with the bench players Daniel Gibson,Ramon Sessions,Antwan Jamison, and Ryan Hollins they have provided consitstant production off the bench while the starters at best have been inconsistent so far this season. My opinion on the Cavs is they will win somewhere between 30 to 40 games this season and far as the playoff maybe or maybe not. But finishing in the draft lottery to get some much needed talent wont be such a bad idea either.

The Browns

The Browns were very lucky in winning this past Sunday against Carolina. QB Jake Dellhomme got the Browns out ahead and in the same breath brought Carolina back in the game even though I seen the good by Dellhomme getting the ball to the wide receivers in the offense and the bad by taking unnecessary risk by throwing into coverage and not throwing the ball away when nothing was there. I wanna know what was the coaching staff thinking on 4th and 1 running the ball without FB Lawrence Vickers being the lead blocker. The defense was average at best and what is bad that rookie QB Jimmy Clausen drove Carolina down the field to set up a potential game winning field goal which makes 2 straight weeks in which the defense let the opposing teams march down the field for potentially game winning scores. I think this sunday against Miami the Browns will fall short 27-17 to the Dolphins.

High School Football

Good luck to the four area high school football teams competing in the state championships this weekend.

Division 1  St Edward vs Huber Hts Wayne

Division 2  Maple Hts  vs Trotwood Madison

Divison 3  Akron Buchtel  vs  Columbus Bishop Watterson

Divison 4  Chagrin Falls  vs  Bishop Hartley

Ohio State

Maybe its me but I dont think right now that OSU Michigan in football is a rivalry due to the OSU dominance in the last few years. Some would say that back when Michigan was beating Ohio State regularly the same thing but the difference is that back then Ohio State had pretty good teams they just for some reason couldnt beat Michigan during John Cooper's tenure as coach of Ohio State. But the present Michigan team is mediocore at best. A top end MAC conference team and they really didnt compete in the last two games at Ohio State. We shall see where the Buckeyes land in the bowl season.

College Basketball

Ohio St and Cleveland St have both started out well so far to begin their basketball seasons. Ohio State is  ranked 2nd in the country at 5-0 and will be playing at Florida St Tuesday night in the Big Ten/Acc challenge. And Cleveland St is undefeated at 8-0 and  will play at Wisconsin Greenbay thursday night. The Ohio St Lady Buckeyes are ranked 7th in the country and will be playing Virginia on thursday. The Cleveland St Lady Vikings are 5-1 and will be playing Western Michigan on friday.

Till next week be safe.
